Chinese fighter jet was "dangerous and reckless" towards Canadian surveillance plane: Blair
A Canadian surveillance plane operating in international airspace off the coast of China was intercepted by a Chinese military jet and used manoeuvres that Defence Minister Bill Blair calls "dangerous and reckless."  Global's Neetu Garcha was on-board the aircraft and reports on the tense situation. Tony Wakeham wins PC leadership, setting stage for next election
Tony Wakeham has won the leadership for Newfoundland and Labrador's Progressive Conservative party, setting the stage for the Opposition Tories to campaign for power in the next general election. [CBC]
Wakeham says he's seen no evidence the carbon tax is working to reduce Canada's carbon footprint. The federal government, he says, should be looking at technology such as hydroelectricity projects and wind farms — not taxation — to improve people’s lives. [CP]

Nova Scotia and New Brunswick scaled back plans for the Atlantic Loop electricity grid Monday to expanding just one existing connection between their two provinces, rather than also building mutiple new lines linking their provinces with Quebec and Newfoundland. [CP]

 Premier Blaine Higgs says his government will deliver a throne speech on Tuesday, quieting election speculation for at least another day. But in Ottawa on Tuesday, Higgs says a snap election is still a real possibility. [Telegraph Journal]
