'What are you doing here?': Carney makes first Stampede visit as prime minister
Canada's new prime minister, best known as a buttoned-down banker, donned a cowboy hat and toured the stables Friday evening at the Calgary Stampede. Over an hour-long tour winding through the rodeo grounds, Mark Carney crawled into a tank, snacked at food stations and posed for dozens of selfies, marking his first visit to the Stampede as prime minister. Speaking in Calgary on Friday, Hodgson said the new legislation — which enables the cabinet to quickly approve projects of national interest by overriding federal laws — will empower the government to act swiftly and any legislative fine-tuning would come later. [National Post]

Premier Wab Kinew said Nahanni Fontaine, Manitoba's accessibility minister, will remain in her position after she apologized for asking why she had to share a stage with a sign-language interpreter. [CBC]
