Vincent Massey was, of course, the first Governor General of Canada to be born in Canada. I have often used the example of Massey to note that Massey and every single Governor General ever since right up to the incumbent, Mary Simon,  served Queen Elizabeth II. Kind of puts the longevity of her reign into some perspective, doesn’t it?
